Bleach-Cleanable Carpets – Are They a Good Idea?

Bleach-cleanable carpets are made from man-made fibres such as polypropylene using a 'solution-dyed' process. This means the colour is built into the fibre itself, which allows for aggressive spot cleaning with diluted bleach on many premium ranges without any color loss.

They're an absolute game-changer for busy family homes, rental properties, and hallways where the occasional spill or muddy footprint is inevitable. They also tend to be more budget-friendly than wool options, making them a practical choice for full-house renovations.

The primary limitation is that they don't always have the same natural resilience as wool; once the plastic fibers are crushed over many years, they don't 'bounce back' as well as natural hair. However, modern manufacturing has improved the feel significantly, with 'soft-touch' ranges now rivaling the comfort of luxury wool.
